One option for EMT training in Tacoma WA is through Tacoma Community College. This is a 165 hour EMT-Basic program that can be completed in one quarter. A new class starts each quarter. There will be classes available in the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter sessions each year. There are only 28 spaces available per quarter. The cost of this program is $1,170.57. That includes the cost of books, examination fees, laboratory fees and tuition. Each class takes twelve to thirteen weeks during the Spring, Winter and Fall quarters. Those quarters hold classes Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6PM to 10PM with some Saturdays. The Summer course is shorter at about eight to nine weeks. Summer classes are held Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 6:00PM to 10:00PM and on some Saturdays.

In order to enroll in this EMT-Basic course you need to have a high school diploma or GED. You will also need a current driver’s license and a current CPR card. You must also have all of your immunizations. This includes have a TB test completed. There may also be a drug test necessary to do your clinical portion of the class. At the end of the program you will need to take the NREMT examination.

You also can get EMT training in Tacoma WA through Bates Technical College. This program costs at total of $2,106.96. Classes are taught on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Weekday classes are offered 5:30PM to 9:30PM. The program is about 12 weeks in length.

To attend this program you must be at least 18 years old. A current active driver’s license is required. Proof of a high school diploma or equivalent is needed. A CPR and first aid health care provider certificate are needed before starting the class. A drug test must be passed to start the clinical part of the class.

Another program for EMT training in Tacoma WA is through Pierce college. This is an eight credit course for EMT-Basic training. It takes about 10 weeks to complete. There are classes offered at night and during the daytime. Day classes are taught Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 1:00PM. Night classes are 5:30PM to 10:30PM Monday through Friday. The cost of this program is $1,923 for the tuition and lab fees. There is additional cost for books and supplies.

There is a mandatory orientation that must be attended prior to starting the training. Students must have a CPR card for either the American Heart Association or the Red Cross. Students must have proof of all vaccinations. A TB test must be done and a drug test must be passed. You must be at least 18 years old and have a driver’s license.

One place to get Paramedic EMT-Training in Tacoma WA is through the Tacoma Fire Department. This fire department only offers EMT-Paramedic training. Classes for EMT-Paramedic classes start in the fall and last nine months. Prospective students must be sponsored by a career fire department and have a current good standing with the IAFF. Classes are limited currently to 20 students. The tuition is $6,500 per year.
