In total the program takes six months to complete over two terms. Classes are limited to no more than 24 students. The cost of the tuition and college fees for residents is about $1,000. There is additional cost for books and tuition.
To begin the EMT-Basic program you must be at least 18 years old. Proof of a GED or high school diploma is needed. You must be able to show that you have all of your vaccines. A negative TB test is required. You must also take a reading, writing and math examination to test your placement levels.

There is another option for EMT training in Portland Oregon through Mt. Hood Community College. It is a six month program for EMT-Basic certification. The classes are taught on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30PM to 9:00PM. The total cost of the registration is $1,545. Students must have a high school diploma or general educational development (GED) certificate. You must also meet the minimum college placement levels for math, reading and writing. Students should have a clean criminal record as well. You will have to get a CPR card from the American Heart Association at the beginning of classes if you don’t already have one.

Another place to get EMT training in Portland Oregon is through National College of Technical Instruction. This is a program that takes about 15 weeks to finish. Classes are taught on Wednesday from 6:00PM to 10:00PM and on Saturdays from 8:00AM to 5:00PM. The total cost of tuition, books and supplies is $1,118. There is an additional cost of about $250 for the cost of enrolling in the program and meeting all of the prerequisites. An additional cost of $100 is also due for the national EMT registry examination.
Students must have proof of health insurance and have all immunization shots up to date. You will also need to get a background check completed. All students must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma/GED.
